Procedure:
Set induction
1. Teacher asks the students whether they have previous experience of visiting any kind of historical museum or not. Teacher then explains to the students about the available attraction in a museum.
2. Teacher explains why current and future generations must learn history.
3. Teacher informs to the students about what to be learnt today; adjective and adverb.
Activity 1
1. Teacher explains to the students about adjective and adverb, and their respective usage in sentences via power point slide presentation.
2. Teacher opens the website: http://historylink101.com/index.htm and briefly describes what the web site is all about to the students.
3. Teacher selects a category from the website and choose random image from the provided subcategories. It is better to select the category that the teacher knows the most so that the teacher can give brief explanation to the students about the selected category.
4. After selecting a random image from the selected category, teacher constructs a sentence describing the picture using adjective and adverb. Then, teacher explains how to describe the picture using adjective and adverb. The students will listen attentively to the teacher explanation.
5. Teacher will select more pictures to show further examples on how to construct sentences describing the pictures using adjective and adverb in case if the students need more demonstration.
Activity 2
1. The teacher divides the students into several groups.
2. Every group is tasked to select eight random pictures from the website regardless of any category. Students can select whatever picture they like despite of not knowing the historical background of the picture. It is advisable for the students to choose pictures that they feel they can describe creatively as possible.
3. After selecting eight pictures, the students work together in their respective group to construct sentences for every picture using adjective and adverb. Every picture must have at least one sentence but the more is the better. They can even write a paragraph to describe a picture. Each group then will prepare a power point presentation containing the pictures and the sentences.
4. Then, all group have to present to the whole class of what they have wrote based on their preferred pictures. Teacher will check the students’ work and understanding during the presentation.
Conclusion
1. Teacher asks the students of what have they learnt today. Teacher again stresses the importance of history to the mankind in general.
Follow-up activity
The students will have to select ten random pictures of their preferred category and write several sentences that describe each picture using adjective, adverb and tenses that they have learnt before. Their work must be done in Microsoft word and submitted in hardcopy form.
